I've been using screen since it's already installed on most of the machines I deal with, but it works a lot better when invoked as "screen -e '^Bb'" to change the escape key. (I have this set in my .screenrc too, but of course that's only on one machine.)

That's nice to hear, but it's also interesting to know that good old app-misc/screen is seeing more active development in the last few months. The mailing list is much more lively and there is talk of all kinds of enhancements as well as evidence of a lot of clean-ups of the code.

Thank you! I've been staying away from screen except when I knew I needed to be able to continue work from elsewhere, because its key bindings were always at least a little wrong. tmux looks perfect!

Same deal! Jeepers, it's not like an Apache major version upgrade is a cakewalk for a production system.

I don't see what was so bad about keeping Apache1 support around. And giving less than 2 months notice is hardly adequate for those that aren't immediately up on the news and able to upgrade immediately.

We rely on Apache 1.x. I tested Apache 2.x and it never worked properly with the modules we use. Additionally, some of the interfaces change and break much proprietary code we use, so there's basically no way to move to Apache 2.x without a lot of (unnecessary) work. If I have to set up a new web server, I'm going to have to copy the binaries off the old one I suppose, or build it manually. Great! Thanks a lot.

Cause I'm lazy... Why should I go and search the links for every blog or site of everyone I happen to mention in my post? If they have content relevant to my entry I will log it, if not, I won't, and most of them anyway appear on planet.gentoo.org anyway, the others don't even have a blog...
03 Nov 2006 or 2006-11-03 would have been much clearer.

Hey hey, calm down, I just came home now from school, don't have time the whole day to just answer the blog comments... :S
And no, I won't split up my resources even more, I already have my own blog, this one, where I discuss all the things I do, and the appropriate places just syndacate it, and it will remain like that. blog.syscp.org is not only a blog, it's an aggregator of syscp-dev blogs, we've discussed it and found it perfectly acceptable to use external blogs if they were already present, like in mine or eremit's case, and so it will stay that way. I don't think it's asking too much, and if you don't want to comment here because it's "another blog", well, just don't! This may sound a bit rude, but hey, be happy we even blog about our ideas and stuff, ask for your input, discuss it et all!
Best regards, CHTEKK.
